About the Role
Rotageek, now part of ELMO Software, optimizes staff scheduling using data-driven technology. We leverage machine learning and advanced algorithms to forecast demand, improve workforce management, and empower employees. Our solutions enhance operational efficiency, customer experiences, and reduce staff turnover in retail and healthcare. This is a senior, hands-on data role serving as the functional lead for Data Engineering, responsible for the analytics data architecture and setting discipline standards. The role focuses on data modeling, reporting to Engineering leadership and collaborating with the global engineering team in Australia.
Responsibilities
- Own the analytics data architecture end-to-end, including layers, modeling conventions, contract framework, and catalog/semantic standards.
- Build the foundational curated layer, creating dimensional models with stated grains for cross-subject business questions.
- Establish and enforce data contracts with Engineering, managing coordinated migrations.
- Own multi-tenant security and the estate's operational health, including isolation, RLS, PII, and freshness, quality, and cost SLOs.
- Implement CI/CD for warehouse and semantic layer, automated provisioning, and staging/production parity.
- Lead the Data Engineering function by owning its standards, technical and hiring bar, and roadmap input.
- Represent data in cross-functional and architecture decisions, and mentor others to ensure shared knowledge.
- Bridge business questions to the model and maintain estate coherence with the group data function and AU team.
Requirements
- Deep, hands-on data modeling for analytics: dimensional modeling, semantic-layer design, entity resolution, with ownership of a consumed curated layer.
- Cloud data warehouse experience (Snowflake a plus); strong modelers on BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks are transferable.
- Proficiency with a transformation framework (dbt or equivalent), strong SQL, and judgment on where logic belongs.
- Experience with multi-tenant analytics and analytics-as-software, including RLS, tenant isolation, Git, CI/CD, tests, and observability.
- Experience managing sensitive/PII data under GDPR, including access control, masking, audit, and retention.
- Functional/discipline leadership in a data area, setting standards, holding the bar, and representing data cross-functionally without direct line management.
