About the Role

RFCUNY is seeking a part-time math curriculum developer with a language and literacy background and experience teaching English learners. This role involves revising curriculum units, coordinating with project staff, building team capacity, and analyzing feedback to support students new to the U.S. and English, who may have experienced interrupted schooling. The position also supports long-term English learners.

Responsibilities

Revise two units of study, including teacher lessons, power points, and student-facing materials, based on feedback.
Coordinate with the project manager, project director, and staff to establish timelines, deliverables, and milestones.
Build the capacity of internal team members to lead and support math unit implementation.
Partner with team members to analyze needs assessments, conduct surveys, and gather feedback from educators on new materials.
Manage project timelines and deadlines across multiple workstreams.
Collaborate across the team in multiple cross-functional areas.
Coach teachers and/or lead professional learning seminars.
Develop curricula or content with appropriate scaffolds.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

3+ years of experience teaching math at the secondary level.
3+ years of experience teaching literacy.
3+ years of experience working with and teaching English Language Learners, SIFE, newcomers, or LTELs.
Knowledge and experience with curriculum development and design, including backwards design.
Ability to integrate feedback from various stakeholders into deliverables.
Experience working with external stakeholders and as part of a collaborative team.
Experience coaching and working with teachers.
Experience facilitating adult learning.
Willingness to give and receive feedback and revise work accordingly.
Proficiency with technology and online content dissemination.
Ability to proactively manage time and deadlines independently.
Bachelor's degree required.

The Bridges project accelerates language, literacy, and content-area learning through school programming, curricula, and professional development for educators.
The team consists of instructional coaches, professional developers, curriculum developers, and researchers based at The Graduate Center, CUNY.
Bridges trains teachers and administrators to support Students with Interrupted and Limited Schooling (SIFE) and Newcomers in implementing Bridges' curricular materials and resources.
