About the Role
As a Senior Security Engineer, you will lead the design, building, and operation of security tooling at scale, raising the technical bar for the team. You will own architecture decisions, guide junior engineers, and serve as a technical advisor to key security and business teams. This role is ideal for an experienced cloud security engineer ready to influence team practices and tooling.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, architecture, and delivery of security platforms and services.
- Own and evolve Infrastructure as Code standards (Terraform) and CI/CD practices (GitHub Actions).
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, including design and code reviews.
- Drive integration, tuning, and lifecycle management of core security tooling.
- Partner with Incident Response, Threat Engineering, and GRC to translate security needs into engineering solutions.
- Champion AI-assisted engineering practices to improve team velocity and code quality.
- Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for security tooling incidents.
- Represent SENG in architecture reviews, advocating for secure-by-design principles.
- Deliver production-ready systems on time and within budget, upholding engineering and security standards.
Requirements
- Significant hands-on experience in security engineering, including designing and operating cloud-native security platforms at production scale.
- Demonstrated ownership of security architecture in AWS (or OCI/Aliyun), including multi-account and cross-region considerations.
- Advanced proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions) for reliability and security.
- Broad, hands-on experience across security tool categories: SIEM, EDR, DLP, PAM, WAF, SOAR, and vulnerability management.
- Proven track record mentoring engineers and leading technical design decisions.
- Advanced scripting and software development skills (e.g. Python), including building and operating production services on Kubernetes/EKS.
- Practical experience with AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude Code).
- Experience with Agile and/or DevOps frameworks, including driving process improvements.

- Maryland Base Pay Range: $82,800 - $137,800
