Responsibilities

  • Develop and use genome editing technology (including CRISPR) in combination with classic mouse genetics approaches.
  • Enable identification of novel modifiers of disease.
  • Enable validation of new targets for therapeutic intervention.
  • Create and genetically analyze animal models.
  • Work closely with animal model generation groups and colleagues across therapeutic areas and the Genentech research community.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree, or equivalent, in genetics and/or molecular biology.
  • Relevant postdoctoral experience.
  • Hands-on experience, with a published track record, working with the mouse as a model system.
  • Solid molecular biology skills.
  • Strong publication record in a relevant field such as model organism genetics, stem cells, genome editing, and/or synthetic Biology.
  • Hands-on experience with relevant techniques, including CRISPR, NGS-based technologies (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, scRNA-Seq, Long-Read sequencing, etc.), microscopy, flow cytometry and imaging.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong interest in technology development.
  • Drive to explore the molecular basis of disease using in vivo models, genetics, and the latest genome editing/engineering technologies.
  • Basic hands-on experience with bioinformatics workflows and computational sequence analysis pipelines.
  • Hands-on proficiency with viral vector platforms, specifically Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) and lentiviral technologies.
  • 3+ years of post-PhD or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry experience.
