About the Role
The Materials & Inventory Control Manager is responsible for achieving required customer service levels, effective capacity planning, and scheduling to optimize site resources. This role is integral to operational improvements, change management, capital projects, new manufacturing operations start-up, new product launches, and other Supply Chain activities impacting product supply. The position oversees Supply Chain Planning, Inventory, and Materials Scheduling, including coordination of API, excipient, and packaging component purchasing. It also coordinates requirements and deliveries from third-party suppliers (CMOs), Inventory Control, and Transportation. The role develops and monitors KPIs and processes with internal functions (operations, QC, QA, Technical) and external suppliers to ensure optimal performance and high customer service. Continuous improvement frameworks for direct and indirect resources in areas like ERP (SAP), material flow, inventory control, and overall materials management are also managed.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a plan to ensure on-time materials & components availability and shipping of finished goods as requested by internal and external customers with an effective inventory level.
- Support commercial launch of new products and product transfers through effective planning and procurement of materials.
- Represent the site on regional or external (CMO) committees/task forces related to Procurement, ERP system, or planning.
- Provide priorities within Supply Chain, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Technical, Engineering, and other relevant departments to achieve customer service and financial goals.
- Evaluate and implement SAP systems enhancements to maximize utilization of automated planning and scheduling.
- Analyze SAP output to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of department plans and actions.
- Oversee the scheduling of plant operations to ensure maximum performance.
- Provide systems for detailed capacity analysis and recommend appropriate short and mid-term plans based on capacity output.
- Ensure accuracy of Production and Inventory Control systems (Item Master, Bill of Material, Work Center Master), and Routing files for effective resource coordination.
- Maintain effective procedures to avoid or identify and dispose of obsolete inventoried items.
- Develop and implement effective production and inventory control policies and procedures.
- Lead the monthly Material Review Board meeting with participation from operations, Technical, and Quality leads.
- Coordinate with department leads (Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Technical, Engineering, and Finance) for timely resolution of issues impeding flow or production.
- Elevate systemic issues requiring resources beyond the scope of personnel participating in Tier 3 level.
- Share responsibility with Operations managers to establish strategic plans for viable production to support customer orders and financial results.
- Establish departmental area objectives and inventory plans for site budgeting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 5+ Years of experience in Supply Chain / Production Planning
- Supply Chain or Operations Management experience
- Knowledge of planning processes and systems (ERP-Enterprise Resource Planning), capacity planning, staffing, production run rates, scenario planning and the associated financial impact of those variables.
- Held positions in a manufacturing environment, covering a broad range of activities from planner, buyer, warehousing, industrial engineering and operations (e.g. Production, Engineering).
- Demonstrated knowledge of capacity planning, scenario planning and run rate determination on a shared work center capacity environment, preferably in an FDA regulated location.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ERP systems (SAP), delivery of improvement initiatives and implementation of KPI’s that resulted in both financial and non-financial benefits.
- Demonstrated delivery of production, customer service, financial and inventory goals.

- $101,981 to $140,223.60 annually plus a 12% performance bonus
