About the Role
Anthropic is seeking a Strategic Projects Lead to manage complex, cross-cutting initiatives within the recruiting function. This role requires driving structure, coordination, and follow-through for high-stakes decisions and initiatives that span multiple teams, especially as the company scales. The position involves influencing stakeholders, ensuring principled decision-making, and maintaining recruiting coherence. It is a high-autonomy role for individuals who excel in complex and ambiguous environments, possess a deep understanding of recruiting, and are energized by resolving diverse problems.
Responsibilities
- Define, pilot, and transition recruiting's ambiguous bets into repeatable programs.
- Own the operating rhythm across recruiting support teams for unified planning, review, and decision-making.
- Identify and resolve systemic friction points within recruiting processes.
- Design and drive adoption of company-wide process changes impacting recruiting.
- Serve as the primary decision-maker for recruiting headcount and workforce planning, including hiring pace and readiness for new regions.
- Establish and maintain operating standards for interviewing, such as scheduling lead time and interviewer load, and lead diagnostic efforts when standards slip.
- Translate analytics into standards and SOPs, creating documentation for independent use.
- Ensure timely communication to stakeholders without becoming a bottleneck, maintaining fluency in recruiting systems and data to assess decision impacts.
- Partner with leads of Recruiting Systems, Analytics, Interview Programs, and other teams to make cross-functional decisions.
Requirements
- 8-10+ years in program management, business operations, chief of staff, or people/talent roles at a fast-growing company with increasing scope.
- Experience within a talent team or close partnership with one, demonstrating an understanding of daily recruiting operations.
- Systems thinking ability to connect pieces, anticipate downstream effects, and design cross-team solutions.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex workstreams simultaneously and make difficult prioritization calls with minimal guidance.
- Experience setting strategy and vision for an area, rather than executing others' plans.
- Ability to create structure and clarity in ambiguous environments.
- Experience applying AI to redesign processes, automate repetitive tasks, and improve shipping speed.
- Proficiency in testing the smallest version of an idea in the real world before full implementation.
- Ability to disagree, commit, and execute with full credibility, understanding decision reversibility.
- Experience successfully implementing large process or policy changes across an organization.
- Commitment to closing loops, maintaining standards, and completing unglamorous work.
