About the Role

Reporting to a Chief Talent Officer, this role provides leadership and oversight for the Talent Team’s day-to-day functions and staff. The Chief of Staff I acts as an advisor, gatekeeper, problem solver, and strategic partner to develop strategy, manage complex situations, and handle confidential information. This role focuses on long-term planning to ensure organizational growth and success.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the day-to-day and strategic operations of the Talent Team, including annual strategic planning, cross-collaborative work stream planning, and team operating mechanisms.
  • Drives execution against Talent Team strategic priorities by monitoring progress, ensuring accountability, and proactively identifying and addressing barriers.
  • Acts as a strategic thought partner and sounding board for the Chief Talent Officer.
  • Represents the Chief Talent Officer's point of view, perspective, and decision guidance.
  • Coordinates and interacts with senior leaders, executives, external affiliate leadership, and external partners on strategic, operational, and organizational matters.
  • Directs, plans, and implements policies and objectives in accordance with the Chief's direction, charter, and board of directors.
  • Prepares reports, proposals, briefings, presentations, and responses on institutional and strategic issues.
  • Provides management support for seamless functioning and management of priorities and/or special projects.
  • Anticipates problems and addresses sensitive issues with diplomacy.
  • Navigates cross-functionally and across geographies.
  • Manages a Project Manager or Executive Assistant to support the CTO's email, calendar, travel, and expenses.
  • Drafts key communications, correspondence, and presentations on behalf of the Chief Talent Officer.
  • Protects the Chief Talent Officer's calendar and time allocation for maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Serves as the Talent Team representative on cross-functional projects, initiatives, and assignments.
  • Reviews and revises data visualization and reporting across the Talent Team to ensure clear and compelling insights.
  • Assists with problem-solving data inaccuracies or inconsistencies to ensure data integrity and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience or a combination of 8 years of experience in Education, Human Capital Management, Organizational Administration or Development, Information Technology, Finance & Accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategy, analysis, project management, and interacting/influencing senior leaders.
  • High level of proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Unilateral leadership skills.
  • Proven experience translating data and metrics to action.
  • Demonstrable experience managing high-profile projects.
  • Robust written and verbal communication portfolio.
  • Emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to travel as needed, including air travel and overnight stays.
  • Ability to work in office and school environments, including navigating stairs and large campuses.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer and attending meetings.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and presentation tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and in group settings across various environments.
