About the Role
Lead the electrical design of RHAELM's data centre infrastructure in Tokyo, Japan, ensuring designs meet company standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements for mission-critical environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the electrical design of HV/LV switchgear and related systems from concept through to completion.
- Develop schematic designs, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings using CAD tools (e.g. AutoCAD, EPLAN, Revit MEP).
- Ensure all designs meet company standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform fault and load calculations, and select and size electrical components and equipment.
- Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and ICT design teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Prepare and submit project documentation, including as-built drawings, test certificates, and O&M manuals.
- Support constructability reviews, site visits, and commissioning to ensure installation matches design intent.
- Manage multiple design packages concurrently, maintaining quality and programme adherence.
Requirements
- Proven electrical design experience, ideally within data centre or critical power environments.
- Experience managing design packages from concept through to delivery.
- Experience handling technical queries, RFQs, and client-facing engineering activities.
- Strong knowledge of relevant standards (BS 7671, IEC, UL, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with Tier III/IV design requirements advantageous.
- Experience operating within Japan's construction, engineering, or regulatory market context advantageous.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of HV/LV switchgear systems and electrical design principles.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, EPLAN, or equivalent electrical CAD software.
- Experience producing technical drawings, calculations, and specifications.
- Clear communication with clients, contractors, and cross-discipline teams.
- Strong attention to detail and compliance focus.
