About the Role

EDC helps Canadian businesses succeed abroad by providing financial tools and expertise to explore new markets and reduce risks, aiming to build a better Canada and world through trade.

Responsibilities

Analyze existing Cognos reports, dossiers, queries, calculations, filters, security requirements, and usage patterns to determine migration scope and complexity.
Collaborate with stakeholders to validate reporting requirements, identify redundant or low-value reports, and recommend consolidation, redesign, or retirement.
Document the current state of report logic, layout, data sources, field mappings, dependencies, and business rules.
Design and develop reports, dashboards, paginated reports, and semantic models in Power BI adhering to EDC's reporting standards and business needs.
Transform and validate data using SQL, Power Query, DAX, and approved enterprise data sources, ensuring data accuracy and traceability from legacy reports to Power BI outputs.
Support user acceptance testing, reconcile Cognos and Power BI outputs, analyze discrepancies, and document test results.
Collaborate with data engineering, architecture, governance, and platform teams to ensure reports are secure, performant, maintainable, and aligned with EDC's target data architecture.
Prepare updates on report inventory, technical documentation, user guides, and knowledge transfer materials for support teams and business users.
Contribute to migration planning, backlog refinement, prioritization, status reporting, and issue/risk tracking.
Support production deployment, post-implementation validation, and the transition of migrated reports to ongoing support.

Requirements

Undergraduate degree in business, computer science, management information systems, data analytics, finance, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in business intelligence, reporting, and data analytics, and in developing large-scale reporting or analytics solutions on enterprise analytics platforms such as Cognos, Tableau, or Power BI.
Experience developing reports, dashboards, semantic models, or paginated reports in Power BI.
Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
Experience analyzing, reverse-engineering, or migrating reports from IBM Cognos Analytics to Power BI: Report Studio, Framework Manager, Cognos dossiers, audit or usage queries and analyses.
Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases, data marts, data warehouses, or enterprise data platforms.
Proven ability to gather requirements, document business logic, validate results, and communicate findings to both technical and business audiences.
Experience supporting report verification, reconciliation, defect resolution, and stakeholder sign-off.
