About the Role
The Activity Aide implements instructions from the Director of Activities to accomplish an activities program for Jewish Home residents, ensuring compliance with regulations and contributing to resident well-being.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily recreational, religious, intellectual, social, service-oriented, and exercise programs, including outings.
- Maintain one-to-one contact with residents and report their specific needs.
- Transport or escort residents to and from programs.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Ensure program compliance with Department of Health regulations, including documentation.
- Participate in the care planning process, including MDS documentation, assessments, and progress notes.
- Communicate with nursing staff regarding residents' needs and participation barriers.
- Maintain daily statistics on resident participation.
- Evaluate recreation programs with the Director of Activities.
- Maintain and organize program supplies and equipment.
- Keep program and storage areas clean and orderly.
- Act in a professional and respectful manner with residents, families, and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and family information.
- Initiate and follow up on interdepartmental communication.
- Attend and present in-services and conferences.
- Possess knowledge of and carry out fire safety procedures.
- Provide visits to meet resident needs.
- Contribute to and distribute monthly calendar/newsletter articles.
- Perform physical setup, cleanup, sorting, pulling, and moving of supplies and furniture.
- Photograph special events and maintain photo boards and albums.
- Assist in arranging and coordinating public relations matters.
- Perform other related work as required.
- Serve as a counselor to the resident council.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays on a rotation basis.
Requirements
- CPR Certified or eligible to become certified.
- Possess a current NYS Driver's License.
- People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply.

Experience Level
