About the Role
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest is seeking a part-time Facilities Maintenance professional in Newbern. This role requires hands-on experience in various construction, maintenance, and industrial/commercial work.
Responsibilities
- Performs skilled maintenance tasks including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and masonry.
- Conducts on-site inspections of jobs to determine materials used and inspect work quality.
- Orders materials and supplies for various jobs.
- Confers with supervisor regarding work assignments or personnel issues.
- Performs other work as assigned, including custodial/janitorial tasks.
- Performs repairs and/or installation of facilities systems.
- Provides input to facilities operational budget.
- Establishes and carries out a preventive maintenance program.
- Provides direction to helpers and less qualified personnel.
Requirements
- Two years of full-time maintenance experience in a variety of construction, maintenance, and industrial/commercial work.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and principles used in construction and maintenance.
- Knowledge of accepted construction methods to determine job costs.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
- Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
