About the Role
The Community Initiatives Manager will oversee the Red Hook Community Justice Center’s workforce development initiative, Level Up, which aims to close employment and opportunity gaps for young adults aged 16-30. This role involves program operations, administrative tasks, grant compliance, and stakeholder partnerships, reporting to the Director of Youth and Community Initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Oversee program operations of the YCI department, including daily oversight of the Level Up and other seasonal youth and young adult programs.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve program goals and objectives.
- Review, revise, and assist in the development of curricula and case management.
- Monitor and update program activities and performance metrics.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program activities, participant progress, and grant compliance.
- Submit regular monthly reports to the YCI Director.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and training to a team of two full-time staff members.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to increase program visibility and attract participants.
- Cultivate partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, employers, and other stakeholders.
- Attend community events, meetings, and forums to promote the program.
- Create informational materials to communicate program offerings and impact.
- Collaborate with the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, Brooklyn Probation office, Family Court, Department of Community Corrections, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, and presentations to local schools, police precincts, and community-based organizations.
- Serve as a liaison between the program and external partners.
- Ensure all grant deliverables are met in a timely manner.
- Review and maintain up-to-date data collection on the Center’s JCA platform.
- Prepare reports, documentation, and other materials for grant reporting purposes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and at least 2-3 years of relevant experience required.
- Experience managing workforce development programs or projects in a nonprofit, government, or community-based organization setting.
- Experience working with underserved and underrepresented populations.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience required supervising, leading, and developing dynamic work teams.
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary settings and maintain strong relationships with multiple agencies and organizations both onsite and in the community.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout employment.
