About the Role

This role offers the opportunity to start a career with GM in various engineering and facilities management positions. The work involves creativity, initiative, and independent judgment within a manufacturing plant environment. Responsibilities

Manage vehicle fit/finish based on key process metrics from customer feedback.
Process validation of new equipment build, installation, and start-up.
Identify equipment/tooling alternatives.
Review, evaluate, and diagnose body/frame fit issues that lead to customer dissatisfiers.
Analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes.
Propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area.
Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area.
Provide technical support for specific plant operations.
Provide direction to engineering support groups and vendors.
Evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment.
Handle engineering projects.
Define manufacturing processes, sequence of operations, and efficient material flow.
Design, construct, integrate, plant install, successfully launch, and continuously improve equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high-quality parts.
Develop and test advanced process technology.
Serve as the Single Point of Contact and Building Owner for all facility needs, including Maintenance, Housekeeping, Roads & Grounds.
Develop and administer service contracts.
Work closely with Business Partners to ensure a high level of delivery of facilities services to tenants and their communities.
Partner with GM communities and lead the transformation of workspaces to find more creative and efficient ways to be their best and build places people want to be, in a safe, compliant, cost-efficient manner that utilizes advanced technology to support social & ecological sustainability.
Manage facility mechanical systems and facility maintenance in a manufacturing plant.
Direct facility activities related to engineering, construction, and maintenance projects, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, chilled water, compressed air, natural gas, tank farms, and energy conservation initiatives.
Monitor and maintain the physical condition of facilities – buildings, roads, grounds, and architectural structures.
Seek new technology applications and creative methods for accomplishing objectives.
Develop, document, and continuously improve facility mechanical systems.

Requirements

Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Mechatronics.
Graduating between December 2026 and June 2027.
Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
Willing to work in a plant environment.

Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to read standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspections.
Ability to promptly detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment (safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, safety shoes).
Ability to work in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled (conditions can be hot or cold).
Ability to frequently and repetitively bend, twist, kneel, crouch and reach to perform work.
Ability to lift or carry materials weighing up to 15 pounds and periodically carry or lift materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
Ability to occasionally sit, climb (including ladders and lifts) and drive vehicles and equipment.
