About the Role

This role is for recent graduates pursuing a Bachelor's degree, with opportunities available in various engineering and technical fields. The specific role will be communicated approximately 30 days before the start date. The positions are designed to launch careers at GM starting as early as January 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for smooth functioning of all manufacturing equipment and manufacturing support systems in the plant.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair plant equipment.
  • Manage and execute plant launches and projects.
  • Work with a team that designs, builds, and maintains facilities in a safe, compliant, and cost-efficient manner.
  • Utilize advanced technology to support social and ecological sustainability.
  • Engineer high-quality, sustainable systems and processes to sustain future business productivity.
  • Support the plant in achieving electrical first-time quality.
  • Lead electrical troubleshooting efforts for the plant.

Requirements

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Control System Engineering, Controls Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
  • Graduating between December 2026 and June 2027.
  • Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Willing to work in a plant environment.
  • Prior internship experience in manufacturing, automotive, or technology is preferred.
  • PLC Programming experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of process equipment operations, sequence, error proofing, and diagnostic capabilities is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership in field of study, extracurricular activities, or service organizations is preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization is preferred.
  • Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, and take initiative/self-directed is preferred.
  • Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to read standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspections.
  • Ability to promptly detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, safety shoes).
  • Ability to work in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled (conditions can be hot or cold).
  • Ability to frequently and repetitively bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach to perform work.
  • Ability to lift or carry materials weighing up to 15 pounds and periodically carry or lift materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally sit, climb (including ladders and lifts), and drive vehicles and equipment.
