About the Role
The Professional Development & Training Coordinator supports workforce development by overseeing training, onboarding, and staff development initiatives. This role ensures staff are equipped with the necessary tools, knowledge, and competencies to deliver trauma-informed, youth-centered care in alignment with agency and regulatory standards. The coordinator collaborates with leaders and subject matter experts to deliver engaging learning experiences and promote continuous professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Human Resources to identify training needs and develop a comprehensive training program.
- Design and deliver onboarding and orientation for all newly hired RTC staff.
- Track and maintain staff training compliance with OCFS and internal agency standards.
- Collaborate with outside agencies to identify potential partnerships for support and training offerings.
- Advertise and communicate training offerings to RTC staff, emphasizing mandatory training compliance.
- Participate in outreach events to bolster recruitment.
- Develop and facilitate training on trauma-informed care, youth and family engagement, crisis intervention, documentation, and agency-specific protocols.
- Serve as the point person for Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training, including scheduling, recertification, and data tracking.
- Serve as a TCI trainer and coordinate external facilitators.
- Partner with Quality Assurance, HR, and program leadership to identify training needs and implement improvement strategies.
- Maintain a centralized training calendar and system for documenting attendance, certification, and evaluations.
- Lead staff focus groups to identify training needs and strengthen staff support.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for staff.
- Support leadership development initiatives and succession planning.
- Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and accountability consistent with trauma-informed care principles.
- Continuously assess best practices for attracting, developing, and retaining a skilled and stable workforce.
- Partner with Human Resources and RTC leadership to gather employee feedback and identify opportunities to strengthen employee engagement, retention, and professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education, human services, organizational development, or related field required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in training, facilitation, or workforce development, preferably in a child welfare or residential care setting.
- Certified TCI trainer preferred or will have the ability to become certified upon hire.
- Experience in adult learning, coaching, and trauma-informed systems change.
- Excellent communication, organization, and instructional design skills.
