About the Role
The AFT Quality team aims to prevent entropy in a system with billions of transactions driven by human and robotic input across hundreds of millions of items annually. We ensure the virtual and physical state of the world aligns within Amazon's fulfillment centers globally, correcting mistakes quickly and ensuring products are ready to sell and ship. We operate at the nexus of machine learning, computer vision, robotics, and operations expertise to build automated, algorithmic approaches to solving complex problems at minimal cost.
Responsibilities
- Define strategy and roadmap for solving complex, ambiguous problems in fulfillment operations, driving org-wide alignment.
- Partner with customers and stakeholders to shape requirements and specifications for new product offerings.
- Collaborate with scientists to apply state-of-the-art artificial intelligence technologies, including computer vision, to overcome challenges unique to the scale of the 'everything store.'
- Own end-to-end delivery of large-scale programs to improve customer satisfaction and lower costs.
- Lead high-stakes initiatives across organizational boundaries, uniting disparate teams around a single outcome.
- Communicate initiative status and strategy to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Engage with executives, engineers, scientists, and product owners to resolve contentious technical topics.
- Invent mechanisms and metrics to turn ambiguous, complex initiatives into measurable, trusted impact.
- Understand system architectures deeply to challenge engineering teams, spot risks, and foster simplifications.
- Dive deep into data or code to uncover hidden opportunities and solve tough problems.
- Mentor TPMs and engineers, participate in promotions, and contribute to talent development.
Requirements
- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience.
- 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams.
- 5+ years of software development experience.
- Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes, and coordinating release schedules.
- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects.
