About the Role
As a Senior Product Designer at Gaia, you will take full ownership of a core product area, reporting directly to the Lead Product Designer. You will be responsible for framing problems, conducting member research, shaping solutions, and shipping them, working closely with Product, Engineering, and Member Growth teams. This role requires designing for a complex, high-stakes domain where clarity and trust are paramount, and contributing to the growth of our design foundations.
Responsibilities
- Owning end-to-end design for your product area, from problem definition through to shipped, measured outcomes
- Running research directly with members, prospects, and internal teams, and translating insights into product decisions
- Collaborating with engineers daily, making real-time judgment calls during development
- Designing for a medically complex, financially high-stakes, and emotionally sensitive domain
- Contributing to and helping mature shared design foundations, patterns, and components
- Using research, analytics, and judgment to inform product decisions and challenging them when necessary
Requirements
- 5+ years of product design experience, with significant time as the sole or lead designer on a product surface
- A portfolio demonstrating problem-solving, design evolution, and post-launch impact
- Comfort operating independently and possessing the judgment to determine when to act or seek further information
- Strong craft in interaction and interface design
- Fluency in Figma and modern design systems
- Experience collaborating closely with engineers in a fast-paced development environment
- Genuine interest in healthcare, fintech, or other regulated, high-stakes domains
- Patience required for complex domains
- Familiarity with AI design tools like Claude Design
- Willingness to adopt new tools and workflows
- Bonus: Experience with complex service or operations tooling
- Bonus: Experience with products supporting users through difficult experiences
