About the Role
As a Full Stack Engineer at Spade, you’ll own product experiences end-to-end, working across both the frontend and backend of our enrichment platform. You’ll build customer-facing interfaces in React and TypeScript, as well as the Python/Django APIs, data models, and platform services that power them. This is a high-ownership role on a small team, where your decisions will directly shape the usability, performance, and reliability of products processing hundreds of millions of transactions.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate on our technical vision to build a product customers love
- Build and maintain customer-facing product experience across React/TypeScript on the frontend and Python/Django on the backend
- Develop and maintain low-latency, massively-scalable developer facing APIs and a robust data platform supporting our data science team
- Partner with the team to own and improve our engineering best practices and help us scale by keeping our processes effective
- Debug production issues across all levels of the stack
- Bring a strong collaborative approach to deliver value to customers and internal stakeholders at Spade
Requirements
- 4+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping production systems in fast-paced environments
- Experience with API development, SQL, and modern front end frameworks and technologies
- Experience building customer-facing systems from scratch, making trade-offs, and executing autonomously in early-stage environments
- A product mindset and strong problem solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and focus on delivering customer value
- A collaborative mindset, fostering a culture shared success and continuous improvement
- Based in NYC with ability to work out of our Flatiron office at least 2 days/week
- Experience with Aurora RDS Postgres
- Experience with managing cloud infrastructure via tools like AWS CDK
- Experience with transaction, merchant, and location data
- Familiarity with fintech / data products
- Familiarity with writing performant SQL, using indices and analyzing query performance.
