About the Role
AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. We support all AWS data centers and the equipment that provides customers with continuous access to innovation. Responsibilities
- Build, Operate and rollout our global DWDM networks
- Drive scaling current DWDM designs to meet customer demand
- Create processes for operating and building our DWDM network
- Collaborate with other Networking departments on new designs
- Ensure the DWDM network adheres to defined network standards
- Review and implement changes on the DWDM network
- Drive operational excellence projects to improve DWDM network quality and reliability
- Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solutions for the network
- Develop, deliver, and lifecycle support optical products for interconnecting AWS Data Centers and PoPs
- Ensure diversity of supply and continually lower data transfer costs
- Transport Core (EC2 & Prod) and Border (Internet) traffic across AWS commercial and ADC regions globally
- Create and evolve products and solutions providing highly available, secure, and scalable transport for multiple customer fabrics globally
Requirements
- 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
- 4+ years’ experience with the rollout and operations of large DWDM networks and Optical network technologies
- 3+ years’ experience with optical planning and modelling tools
- Knowledge of network design, protocols and troubleshooting
- Experience with network, system, or software architecture
- Experience in a fast paced, dynamic organization
- 3+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
- Thorough understanding of deploying and operating high capacity DWDM and Optical network systems
- Highly autonomous
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong project management and time management skills
- Successful track record of troubleshooting complex network problems
- Experience in automation and delivering innovative solutions
- Desire and ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment
