About the Role

This position provides proactive disability and occupational health services to City of Toronto employees, aiming to minimize the impact of illness and injury on both employees and the workplace. It requires a minimum of 3 office days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates medical and functional assessments and interprets results to make recommendations regarding employee health impacting work function.
  • Refers and collaborates with internal and external resources to ensure health assessments, treatment, and programs support employee recovery.
  • Provides consultation and works with staff, managers, healthcare professionals, union representatives, and LTD carriers for integrated disability management.
  • Displays flexibility to meet situational needs while adhering to policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Identifies cause-and-effect relationships in complex situations with diverse stakeholders and information.
  • Assists in developing, assessing, and recommending compliance with corporate policies for Employee Health & Wellness Services and Programs.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a health specialty or equivalent education and experience.
  • Considerable experience and knowledge of disability management, occupational health theory, and return-to-work best practices.
  • Experience interpreting medical and functional information and communicating it within policy and legal bounds.
  • Experience in delivering health surveillance programs (e.g., pre-placement assessments) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of pertinent legislation (Occupational Health and Safety, Human Rights, Health Disciplines Act) and its application.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and decision-making in complex, sensitive situations with tact, discernment, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with all staff levels and union representatives.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, MS Access, MS Word, PowerPoint).

Salary/Compensations

  • $89,337-$132,880
