About the Role

As a Senior IT Systems Engineer on the IT Systems team, you will own the design, implementation, and long-term health of the enterprise systems Klaviyo runs on identity, endpoint management, and the SaaS platforms every Klaviyo touches. You will lead projects end to end, from SSO/SCIM rollouts to complex multi-tool integrations and automations, and you will be trusted to take an ambiguous business problem, define the problem statement yourself, and deliver a solution that scales. This is a senior individual contributor role with high autonomy and real ownership. You will use AI fluently in your own work and help design AI-assisted workflows into the systems we run for the rest of the company.

Responsibilities

Own systems, not tickets, and be accountable for their reliability, security, and roadmap.
Lead projects end to end at pace, including scoping, design, rollout, rollback, and communication.
Turn ambiguous business needs into clear problem statements and systems that hold up.
Set the technical bar with clean configuration, least-privilege access, automation, and operational runbooks.
Define success metrics before building and prove them with data.
Raise the people around you by reviewing others’ work, mentoring engineers, and giving/receiving feedback.
Act as a technical escalation point for complex system issues, drive root cause analysis, and feed learnings back into the platform.
Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation for site-specific or business-blocking issues.

Requirements

4+ years of hands-on experience as a systems engineer or systems administrator, with a track record of owning enterprise systems in production.
Ability to define problem statements, scope needs, drive stakeholder alignment, and deliver with minimal direction.
Deep working knowledge across enterprise device management, identity and access management, and endpoint security.
Experience deploying and managing macOS and iOS devices at scale through an MDM (Jamf preferred).
Experience with Windows management (Intune, Autopilot) is a strong plus.
Experience administering core SaaS platforms such as Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian, and Zoom, including their security and admin controls.
Hands-on experience with IdP configuration, management, and maintenance: SSO (SAML/OIDC), SCIM provisioning, group and role design, and app onboarding.
Experience with Okta or Entra ID (Azure AD) is preferred.
Experience owning the identity lifecycle (onboarding, role changes, offboarding) and understanding security and audit consequences.
AI proficiency, including using LLM assistants and agents for research, writing, debugging, and documentation.
Actively interested in putting AI into systems to automate triage, enrichment, and repetitive workflows.
Automation skills with scripting languages like Bash, PowerShell, or Python (Python preferred).
AWS Lambda experience is a plus.
Comfortable working with APIs (REST, JSON), authentication, and rate limits.
Ability to build integrations between systems that do not natively communicate.
Value clean, concise controls and easily editable security functionality within tools.
Ability to produce evidence for access reviews and audits (SOC 2, SOX) efficiently.
Disciplined change management practices: testing, peer review, rollback planning, user communication, and documentation.
Ability to debug unfamiliar system problems, drive to root cause, and communicate clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to evaluate vendors and tools based on security posture, integration surface, and total cost.
Strong written communication skills, producing documentation, runbooks, and change notices that are actionable by others.
