About the Role
As Group Account Director, Social Media, you will lead strategic social media initiatives for key clients across Canada. You will oversee social planning, activation, client leadership, and team development, acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and driving business growth through innovative social strategies.
Responsibilities
- Lead social media group account direction across platforms like Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat, Reddit, LinkedIn, X, and emerging social platforms.
- Manage a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring tasks are delegated appropriately and the team remains challenged and engaged.
- Meet client and agency KPIs and develop business plans and social media strategies.
- Collaborate with agency Directors and Associate Directors to align on agency and client priorities and social media direction.
- Lead overall social media management strategies, negotiations, and deal development for clients.
- Stay informed about media trends, technologies, and new media opportunities.
- Serve as the key lead on client integrations and special social media projects.
- Act as a senior client-facing role in both Montreal and Toronto markets.
- Establish and grow strong relationships with multiple senior client stakeholders by demonstrating industry knowledge and applying it to business challenges and social media strategies.
- Educate clients and provide thought leadership on changing media, consumer, and marketplace dynamics impacting strategic direction.
- Work with analytic partners to gauge media performance and KPIs to determine the extent to which objectives and strategies were met.
- Act as a positive role model through example, mentorship, and maximizing team potential.
- Optimize revenue opportunities within the agency.
- Manage relationships and stewardship of agency agreements.
Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years of media agency experience.
- University or College degree/diploma in Media, Marketing, Business, Project Management, or a related field.
- Strong internal relationship skills are required as the role bridges planning and buying.
- Experience in both planning and buying is a key asset.
- Demonstrable depth of understanding of social media platforms, acting as the 'quarterback' of a social media activation team.
- Strong understanding of the role each channel plays in the media mix, how it is traded, and how it is measured within a client campaign.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with key social media partners.
- Excellent client management, interaction, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated team leadership credentials.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Frequent usage of AI in a day-to-day capacity.
