About the Role
This live-in role in a student residence requires you to be a trusted adult, focusing on safeguarding and providing support to students away from home for the first time. It suits a mature, reliable, and people-oriented individual.
Responsibilities
- Live on the same floor as assigned students and be a dependable, approachable presence during shifts.
- Carry out welfare and room checks throughout shifts.
- Conduct curfew checks for under-18 students.
- Report safeguarding concerns promptly and in line with policy.
- Build positive relationships with students and contribute to a safe, welcoming floor environment.
- Be present for Sunday arrivals shifts to welcome new students.
- Be present for departure shifts to say goodbye to students.
- Organize Mentor meetings twice per month for long-term students.
- Conduct three student evaluations throughout their stay.
- Meet KPIs and work towards assigned OKRs as part of the residence team.
- Support students with questions about their experiences, including rules, conduct, and basic academic knowledge.
- Act as a leader who understands and communicates a customer-focused approach to other staff.
Requirements
- A responsible and mature individual who takes full ownership of their role and upholds a high standard of conduct.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with young people, with a clear understanding of duty of care and safeguarding obligations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a professional, approachable manner that fosters trust among students and colleagues.
- Well organized and capable of managing multiple responsibilities concurrently while maintaining attention to detail.
- A results-oriented mindset with the ability to work towards clearly defined KPIs and OKRs.
- Prior experience in youth work, education, or a residential setting is advantageous.
