About the Role

The Senior Financial Analyst will play an important role in ensuring the integrity of CanCap’s financial reporting, maintaining robust internal controls, and delivering timely, accurate financial information to support decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Completion of full cycle accounting activities under ASPE and IFRS accounting standards including, preparation or review of monthly journal entries and supporting schedules
  • Lead and support the month-end and year-end close processes across multiple entities.
  • Analyze financial results and variances, providing clear commentary on business performance.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal stakeholders and senior management.
  • Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations monthly, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain supporting documentation and ensure audit readiness of all reconciliations.
  • Continuously improve reconciliation processes through standardization and automation.
  • Preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual tax reporting (indirect taxes, corporate and partnership taxes)
  • Support annual external audit compiling required data and information and liaising with external audit team
  • Assist with implementation of automation and efficiency improvement opportunities
  • Reconciliation of intercompany accounts
  • Proactively identify and address the root cause of issues encountered during performance of tasks / analytical reviews and communicate effectively – orally and in writing
  • Working closely with Operations, Finance Operations, Accounts payable and other business units to gather financial data and provide insights.
  • Communicate financial information clearly to non-finance teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of financial processes.
  • Leverage financial systems, ERP tools, and data analytics platforms to streamlining workflows.
  • Support automation initiatives and digital transformation within the finance function.
  • Champion best practices in data management and reporting.
  • Other projects, duties, and tasks as assigned from time to time

Requirements

  • 3+ years relevant work experience in the financial services field
  • Full cycle accounting experience
  • Post-secondary education with a specialization in Finance or Accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Experience working in a multi-entity or complex organizational structure is an asset.
  • Experience with Sage 300 ERP or similar accounting software is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to present financial information clearly.
  • Adaptability & Learning Agility: Ability to quickly understand new concepts, systems, and business models in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment and across departments.
  • Ownership & Accountability: Takes initiative and responsibility for delivering high-quality work within deadlines.
