About the Role
The Buyer II sources and purchases items for assigned commodities and suppliers. This experienced individual will work with autonomy, analyze buying trends, manage inventory, establish supplier relationships, and negotiate pricing to meet production demands.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with production leadership to determine and execute on supply chain and purchasing needs.
- Source products from the global marketplace.
- Quote and place new product designs in a timely manner.
- Communicate with planners and requestors regarding delivery date changes or order issues.
- Enter and maintain all purchase orders and related purchasing activities in the ERP system.
- Act upon new purchasing requirements or order action reports within 1 working day.
- Resolve supplier quality issues for assigned commodities within 3 working days, including processes for replacement, return, or repair.
- Contribute to obtaining the highest quality products, best on-time delivery, and best unit cost for assigned parts and assemblies.
- Interface with Engineering to ensure accurate and timely implementation of new parts, revisions, or sourcing tasks.
- Maintain accurate ERP system data, including vendor contracts, lead times, price breaks, updated quotes, due dates, promise dates, and vendor/item master data.
- Perform additional routine or administrative purchasing functions as needed.
- Ensure all payment information is correct and managed properly, including credit card purchases.
- Work with accounts payable to resolve supplier invoicing issues.
- Drive improvement to supplier on-time delivery, quality, and cost.
- Understand supply source capabilities to ensure correct placement of new parts.
- Work with cost accounting to resolve PPV issues and drive preventive actions with suppliers.
- Perform additional related tasks or duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- 2-year degree in a related business or technical field required (Business, Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, etc.).
- 4-year degree preferred.
- Appropriate relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
- 3-5 years of working experience in purchasing, supply chain management, or related position, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- 3-5 years of experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision, completing tasks on time and multitasking efficiently.
- Ability to move and navigate around a manufacturing environment and facility.
- Comfortable with standing, walking, and occasionally traversing stairs or uneven surfaces.
- Ability to use standard office equipment such as computers, keyboards, and phones for extended periods (8+ hour shift).
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects of 10-25 pounds.
- Strong visual and auditory acuity needed to read, interpret, and analyze data, production schedules, and reports.
- Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels from manufacturing equipment and machinery.

- $60,000 - $70,000 annually
