About the Role

Rogers Sports & Media is seeking a Part-Time Video Operator to contribute to the growth of the brand and enhance the connection with the Sportsnet audience. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in fast-paced, live control room environments.

Responsibilities

  • Chart, color correct, and monitor video levels on studio cameras, video monitors, remote cameras, and elements in SDR and HDR color spaces.
  • Collaborate with Technical Directors, Lighting, Camera Operators, and Production teams on daily show requirements and pre-show information.
  • Patch cameras to various in-house areas and manage scene file creation, modification, and updates.
  • Operate CCUs, RCPs, and MSU panels within an IP environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly.
  • Maintain the on-air look according to Rogers Sports & Media standards.
  • Continuously examine internal network systems and processes, identifying and addressing inconsistencies.
  • Maximize resource utilization for content offerings and liaise with management and engineering on technical maintenance and repairs.

Requirements

  • Specialized knowledge of video theory, camera operation, video-matrix setup, waveform/vectorscope alignment, LUTs, and emerging color spaces.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of the broadcast video signal and lighting practices.
  • Understanding of control room and studio workflows.
  • Ability to work quickly and effectively in a team environment under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Natural curiosity and a drive to succeed.
  • A caring attitude towards people and the world.
  • Aptitude for collaboration and a team-first mindset.
  • Passion for sports content and broadcasting.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills with knowledge of broadcast control systems and peripherals.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Must clear a criminal background check.
  • A credit check and driver's abstract may be required depending on the role.
