About the Role

Apply hydrologic and hydraulic engineering principles to the planning, analysis, and design of drainage infrastructure for transportation and roadway improvement projects. Contribute to the development of innovative and cost-effective stormwater management solutions. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review drainage design plans, hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, and technical reports for transportation projects.
  • Apply applicable drainage design standards, criteria, and agency guidelines to ensure accuracy, compliance, and constructability in stormwater and roadway drainage designs.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, storm sewer and culvert sizing, drainage modeling, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs for assigned transportation drainage projects.
  • Utilize industry-standard hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software to evaluate drainage system performance, assess flood risk, and develop effective stormwater management solutions.
  • Support coordination with roadway, structural, environmental, and other multidisciplinary teams, as well as clients and reviewing agencies, to integrate drainage requirements into overall project design.
  • Assist with quality assurance reviews, address drainage-related design comments, and provide technical support during plan development, agency reviews, and construction-related field inquiries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of transportation drainage experience with TxDOT projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Proficiency in Microstation ORD, AutoCad, and Civil3D software.
  • Proposal writing/marketing experience is a plus.
  • Routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones and copy machines.
  • May require occasional exposure to work environments that may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, hazard, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water, depending on project requirements.
  • Physical demands include frequent sitting, moving, standing, talking, hearing, and occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.
  • May occasionally require operating a company vehicle, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs.
  • Successful completion of applicable pre-employment substance screening and background checks.
