About the Role

AMBOSS is seeking a Financial Systems Architect to be the technical owner of Workday Financials, shaping the future of medical education through technology. This senior individual contributor role involves managing configurations, integrations, and advising on system design within the Workday ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Own the tenant technically, including configuration and business processes across record-to-report, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and bank connectivity.
Manage the security model and financial data model.
Take over from the implementation partner, reviewing, documenting, and hardening delivered solutions.
Close gaps and bring run responsibility in-house post-go-live.
Set technical standards and review consultant work.
Own the Workday side of every integration, designing and building EIBs, Core Connectors, Studio integrations, web services, and RaaS reports.
Agree interface contracts with Data Platform engineers.
Advise Accounting and Finance on system design and Workday capabilities.
Provide Tier 2/3 support with root-cause fixes and testing discipline.
Manage Workday releases and maintain a change log with configuration documentation.
Enable accounting stream leads for first-line support.
Build reports, dashboards, and calculated fields for Finance and leadership.
Assess feasibility, design, and configure solutions for expansions like HCM, treasury, automated VAT reporting, and global payroll.
Ensure reliable integrations through month-end and year-end closes.
Answer auditor system questions during year-end close and statutory audits.
Handle Workday releases end to end.
Act as the expert and advisor for all Workday-related matters, shaping requirements and guiding process design.

Requirements

5+ years of hands-on Workday Financials experience.
At least one full Workday Financials implementation.
Post-go-live ownership of a Workday tenant, including hypercare, first closes, and releases.
Configuration expertise in core modules (GL, AP, AR, Banking & Settlement).
Experience with the Workday business process framework, configurable security, and the financial data model (FDM, worktags).
Proficiency in custom and matrix reports, calculated fields, and BIRT.
Experience connecting SaaS business systems using APIs and integration patterns.
Habit of thinking in end-to-end processes across tools.
Understanding of accounting principles, including chart of accounts, period close, reconciliations, and audit requirements.
Structured troubleshooting to the root cause.
Disciplined testing and documentation practices.
Excellent English communication skills, precise with engineers and plain with finance colleagues.
