About the Role
Lifen's Cloud Services team builds and maintains cloud-native infrastructure services, ensuring their availability, monitoring, implementation, and scalability. We are hiring a Platform Engineer to join a growing senior team. The platform enables development teams to securely and autonomously host, deploy, and operate their applications. This role is critical for several Lifen products and operates in a multi-cloud environment, with a progressive migration from AWS to GCP. The hired individual will contribute to evolving this foundation and support R&D teams from architecture design to solution adoption.
Responsibilities
- Evolve an Internal Development Platform enabling development teams to deploy and operate their applications securely with a high level of self-service.
- Play a crucial role in the platform's infrastructure architecture in a multi-cloud environment, with a focus on GCP.
- Build and maintain the Internal Development Platform used by over 50 internal clients, then support its practical use by the teams.
- Participate in two-week build/run rotations, handling production incidents, monitoring alerts, complex investigation requests from development teams, and maintaining service quality standards.
- Assist teams in solving their problems rather than acting on their behalf, aiming to develop their autonomy.
- Drive adoption by presenting evolutions, supporting users, verifying actual usage, and correcting issues in real-world scenarios.
- Key interactions include Development, Product, Data, AI, and Security/Compliance teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience in infrastructure, SRE, or Platform Engineering in a demanding production environment.
- In-depth expertise in a Cloud Service Provider (CSP), proficient in managing and optimizing managed services like Kubernetes, Object Storage, Database, Message Bus, and KMS to build robust, secure, and scalable cloud-native solutions.
- Solid experience in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Terragrunt) for efficient configuration management and task automation across infrastructure.
- Experience with container orchestration to create and maintain a resilient and automated deployment pipeline (FluxCD).
- Significant experience with monitoring and metrics tools, including Victoria Metrics, Grafana, and the EFK stack, for real-time system health and performance visibility.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical challenges in a dynamic, fast-paced cloud-native environment.
- Experience working in a distributed team and a drive for collective success in a silo-free organization.
- Ability to work autonomously without working alone.
- Comfortable in a full remote team, making reasoning legible, sharing useful information in writing, and asking for help when needed.
- Prioritize the needs of development teams and product/business challenges, recognizing that a platform's value lies in its usage and problem-solving capability.
- Understanding that run rotations are part of the role, can be demanding, and contribute to continuous platform improvement.
- Passion for staying updated on emerging cloud technologies and industry trends, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and adaptation.
- GitHub ID and certain technical prerequisites are required for the technical case study.
