About the Role
For our team at Springer Vieweg, we are looking for a Subject Editor for the fields of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. In this fixed-term position, you will manage a program of textbooks and technical books, working closely with authors, universities, and internal departments. You will oversee book projects from conception to publication and contribute to the development of existing publications and subject areas.
Responsibilities
- Manage existing textbooks and technical books in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering (portfolio development and management)
- Oversee new book projects from conception to publication (business development)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for authors and editors, supporting them throughout the publication process
- Coordinate schedules and workflows, collaborating closely with project management, production, and marketing teams (stakeholder management)
Requirements
- Interest in technical topics and current developments in research, teaching, and industry
- Ability to work independently, maintain an overview of numerous projects, and set priorities effectively
- Clear and efficient communication skills
- Interest in the application of Artificial Intelligence, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Very good German language skills
- Proficiency in English communication
- Willingness to undertake occasional business trips within Germany and Austria
