About the Role
Assist the Head of Vaccines in delivering the strategic medical plan for allocated therapy areas and partner to ensure operational excellence of the UK and Ireland (UKI) medical affairs team. Contribute to UK strategic planning by providing medical insight and applying expert knowledge of pipeline products and/or disease areas. Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals, providers, and academic centers. Advocate for cross-functional partnership to achieve company and team objectives. Maintain integrity and ethical standards, acting as a role model in a non-promotional capacity.
Responsibilities
- Be the medical expert and represent the Medical Department to provide fair, balanced, non-promotional, and unbiased medical and scientific assistance in response to specific requests from healthcare professionals (HCPs) regarding product portfolio, clinical development program, or disease areas of interest.
- Identify, develop, and maintain professional and credible relationships with the health care community, particularly Scientific experts and academic centers, within relevant disease areas.
- Partner with relevant internal functions to deliver improved patient outcomes in a given disease area.
- Participate in the development of Medical Affairs Plans (MAPs) and implement tactics aligned with the Company’s therapeutic areas of interest.
- Work cross-functionally to deliver specific projects within the MAP, such as symposia, advice-seeking activities, and medical education initiatives.
- Facilitate the delivery of data generation activities (Phase I-III) in partnership with colleagues, including identifying suitable research projects, research centers, investigators, and innovative methods for data generation.
- Ensure all activities and interactions comply with applicable local, global, and national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct (including ABPI Code of Practice), company policies, and accepted standards of best practice.
Requirements
- Strong scientific background in medical or biological science.
- GMC registered doctor, GPhC registered pharmacist, or PhD/Masters degree.
- Self-assured communication and social skills.
- Excellent strategic planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize work effectively, balancing long- and short-term tasks.
- Demonstrated previous excellent cross-functional working experience.
- Good working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Pharmacovigilance laws and regulations, and the ABPI code of conduct.
- Developed communication skills.
- Ability to strategically plan.
- Ability to critically appraise progress.
- Ability to work towards implementing change with external and internal stakeholders to achieve impactful objectives.
