About the Role
This temporary, non-benefited role assists a licensed pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medications. The position involves compounding, preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing hazardous and non-hazardous pharmaceuticals, performing essential functions related to pharmaceutical compounding, medication distribution, quality assurance, compliance, and inventory management.
Responsibilities
- Assists a licensed pharmacist, as directed, in compounding, preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing of both hazardous and non-hazardous pharmaceuticals to fill valid prescriptions or medication orders.
- Performs essential functions related to pharmaceutical compounding, medication distribution, quality assurance and compliance, and medication inventory management.
- Complies with all federal and New York State laws, rules, and regulations as promulgated by the New York State Board of Pharmacy.
- Responsible for all duties related to the Pharmacy Assistants.
Requirements
- National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT from National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with NYS Office of the Professions, State Education Department.
- High school diploma or High School Equivalency diploma.
- Equivalent of six (6) months of full-time pharmacy assistant or pharmacy technician experience.
- Must maintain the required New York State registration and national certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) as a condition of continued employment.
- Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
