About the Role

We are seeking a System Integration Engineer for a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This role involves integrating hardware, firmware, and operating system software for media servers and processing hardware used in live events, broadcast, theatre, and immersive experiences. You will be responsible for ensuring the entire product functions as a reliable system. The position requires quickly building context on ongoing new product introduction work and taking ownership of integration and testing efforts. A primary focus will be building pre-configured Windows OS Images, with close collaboration across mechanical, electronics, firmware, software, procurement, manufacturing, and supplier teams.

Responsibilities

Integrate hardware, firmware, and operating system elements into working systems and manage new builds through bring-up.
Own the end-to-end resolution of integration issues, from initial symptom to root cause analysis and verified fix.
Contribute to BIOS and operating system level configuration and validation on new platforms.
Write, execute, and maintain hardware test plans, including functional, environmental, thermal, and stress testing.
Build and enhance test rigs, fixtures, and automated test scripts for repeatable validation.
Clearly record test results and translate data into engineering decisions and evidence for design sign-off.
Serve as a technical point of contact for internal teams dependent on hardware readiness.
Translate technical details into clear updates for non-specialist audiences, including customer-facing notes on hardware and firmware changes.

Requirements

Experience in a hardware, systems, or test engineering role, integrating hardware and software into complete products.
Practical fault-finding ability across electrical, mechanical, and software domains with a structured approach to root cause analysis.
Comfort with lab equipment and hands-on work.
Working knowledge of PC architecture and server hardware, including BIOS, firmware, and operating system installation and configuration.
Ability to write clear technical documentation and test procedures.
Scripting ability for test automation and data handling (e.g., Python, Bash, Powershell).
Organized and self-directed, capable of quickly picking up in-flight work and managing multiple workstreams.
Collaborative and clear communicator, comfortable working with suppliers and external engineering colleagues.
Experience with video and display technologies (e.g., DisplayPort, HDMI, SDI, IP video).
Exposure to new product introduction and the transition from prototype to mass production.
Experience working with contract manufacturers and managing supplier quality issues.
Familiarity with GPU-based servers, high-performance computing hardware, or real-time media processing.
Background in live events, broadcast, theatre, film, or other creative technology sectors.
Experience with PLM or ERP systems and formal engineering change control.
Familiarity with issue tracking and documentation tools like Jira and Confluence.
