About the Role
This role is an opportunity to play an important part in maintaining strong financial control, governance, and accounting oversight across Real Estate and Private Markets entities within the Asset Management business.
Responsibilities
- Provide independent financial control and review financial information prepared by third-party administrators.
- Review period-end outputs, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting evidence for accuracy and completeness.
- Apply technical accounting judgment to routine and non-routine transactions, including valuations, accruals, impairments, and structural events.
- Constructively challenge accounting treatments, inconsistencies, and control weaknesses, documenting clear conclusions.
- Review draft and final financial statements against underlying records, judgments, and agreed accounting treatments.
- Prepare initial going concern assessments and support external audit requirements.
- Identify recurring issues and formally hand over findings, evidence, and risk impacts to the Oversight team.
- Contribute to improvements in control frameworks, review checklists, accounting processes, and evidence standards.
Requirements
- A newly qualified accountant with a strong foundation in technical accounting and financial control.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles, balance sheets, and reconciliations.
- Experience supporting external audits in a preparer or reviewer capacity.
- Real Estate or Real Assets experience, including exposure to property structures or funds.
- An audit background, ideally gained within a Big Four or equivalent environment, or comparable audit training followed by a move into industry.
- Experience reviewing, overseeing, or constructively challenging outsourced accounting providers.
- Clear and professional communication skills, with confidence working with service providers, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
- A methodical, solutions-focused approach, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and take ownership.
