About the Role
We are seeking to appoint several talented, enthusiastic, and committed mid-career hydrogeologists/modellers to support a range of projects undertaken by the Catchment Science team. Your work will be varied and challenging, focusing on groundwater challenges in the water resources, environmental, and infrastructure sectors.
Responsibilities
- Technical delivery of hydrogeology and water resources projects, with emphasis on regional groundwater modelling
- Manage projects including financial oversight, change control and quality assurance
- Mentor, supervise and develop junior team members
- Work with the Hydrogeology and Groundwater Services Lead to define scopes and approaches
- Produce high quality client and public facing deliverables that communicate complex data clearly
- Contribute to bid proposals and help develop innovative solutions for clients
- Work collaboratively with other sectors and disciplines to deliver integrated project outcomes
- Promote a safety first culture in line with WSP policies
- Lead high impact groundwater modelling work
- Guide the delivery of regional and catchment-scale groundwater studies that support regulatory, infrastructure and environmental clients.
- Take ownership of projects, including project management, financial control and quality assurance
- Develop and mentor others, with the opportunity for people management responsibilities
- Collaborate across a multidisciplinary network with hydrologists, environmental specialists, modellers and engineering teams
Requirements
- Groundwater and Water Resources modelling to support water resource estimation and management, as well as environmental impact assessment
- A strong understanding of UK hydrogeology and of the environmental and regulatory framework of UK water management
- Strong project management skills, with experience of managing projects from start to finish.
- A sound understanding of client needs, their opportunities and challenges, with a track record of leading and winning work.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the potential to engage and influence at all levels.
- Strong commercial awareness, with experience of identifying and developing business opportunities as well as the preparation of winning proposals.
- Excellent report-writing, technical review, numerical and analytical skills, with an eye for detail and enjoy solving challenging hydrogeological / hydrological problems.
