About the Role
As the deputy to the Finance Director, this role oversees the financial control environment, ensuring accurate financial reporting and forecasting for the Delivery Authority. It involves applying financial scrutiny to the Programme Estimate and managing stakeholder relationships to support the multi-billion-pound Restoration and Renewal Programme.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the financial control environment.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and forecasting.
- Apply financial scrutiny to the Programme Estimate.
- Develop and manage relationships with the DA Executive, Board, House teams, and wider Programme stakeholders.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a finance team, promoting development and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Substantial post-qualified experience as a Financial Controller or equivalent role in a large complex public sector organisation or a large infrastructure capital programme.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, manage complex stakeholders, and use advanced communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple activities to meet or exceed deadlines.
- Agile and flexible approach to work, with experience of working in an unstructured and ever-changing environment.
- Experience leading, mentoring, and managing a finance team, promoting development and continuous improvement within the finance function.
- Must pass security vetting to a minimum Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) level.
- May not be eligible for vetting if residing outside the UK for more than two of the last five years.

- Excellent verbal, numerical, and written communication skills.
- Excellent engagement skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong time and project management skills.
- Blend of technical financial management, systems management, and planning and analysis skills.

- Circa £130,000 per annum
