About the Role
As a Senior Platform Engineer at Blinq, you will own the systems, pipelines, and tooling that accelerate the delivery of features across iOS, Android, and TypeScript web and backend services on Google Cloud. This role involves enhancing observability, improving developer experience, and enabling AI within the engineering workflow, with a strong focus on security and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Make observability self-serve by building patterns, libraries, templates, and AI-assisted workflows for service and app instrumentation.
- Translate learnings from incidents and operational health into platform improvements.
- Significantly improve CI/CD speed and reliability for web, backend, iOS, and Android, including caching, parallelism, flaky-test detection, and release automation.
- Facilitate fast and easy creation, testing, and sharing of isolated development environments.
- Partner with QA to integrate automated testing into the engineering workflow.
- Own the inner loop, including local and cloud development environments, seed data, scaffolding, and templates.
- Build internal tools to eliminate toil and retire outdated ones.
- Collaborate with product engineers to address performance bottlenecks and use their feedback to guide the roadmap.
- Set standards for AI tool usage among engineers, developing environments, context, and guardrails for effective and safe agent implementation.
- Identify and roll out AI applications that genuinely improve developer efficiency.
- Evolve Google Cloud infrastructure using infrastructure as code (IaC), focusing on cost, access hygiene, and simplicity.
- Streamline vulnerability detection and management across dependencies, images, and infrastructure.
- Apply a security-first approach to all platform development, ensuring secure defaults for CI credentials, ephemeral environments, and agent access.
Requirements
- Around 5 or more years in platform, developer productivity, DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure roles.
- Proven track record of making other engineers faster.
- Concrete examples of significantly faster or more reliable CI/CD pipelines, ideally including mobile builds and releases.
- Experience with ephemeral environments and end-to-end test automation.
- Good working knowledge of observability (RUM, APM, metrics, logs).
- Track record of helping other engineers instrument their code well.
- Comfort working in a TypeScript codebase.
- Hands-on experience with a major cloud provider (GCP preferred) and infrastructure as code.
- A security mindset, considering threat surface, secrets, and access by default.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management and secure-by-default practices.
- Daily use of AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot, with experience building or improving workflows.
- A genuinely collaborative working style, energized by pairing and seeking feedback.
- Clear communication skills across engineering, QA, product, and security teams.
- Strong ownership and judgment, with a bias toward simple solutions and completion.
