About the Role
The US Oncology Network is seeking a Patient Services Representative to support the South Austin and Lakeway locations. This full-time position offers a Monday-Friday schedule with no weekends, call, or major holidays. The role can be filled at a Level 1, 2, or Sr level depending on candidate experience.
Responsibilities
- Schedule new patients, referrals, and returning patients in the computer system.
- Cancel and reschedule appointments according to physician schedule changes and notify appropriate personnel.
- Meet with patients to schedule all future appointments, procedures, or other exams.
- Triage and respond to incoming scheduling calls accurately and efficiently.
- Accurately schedule appointments while multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Obtain and attach all necessary authorizations and referrals to appointments.
- Maintain the primary office scheduling template.
- Arrange for patients to receive financial counseling as needed.
- Protect patient confidentiality.
- Follow policies and procedures to contribute to front office efficiency.
- Cover other front office functions as requested.
- Prepare correspondence, memos, forms, and other typing as requested.
- Schedule outpatient appointments, testing, surgeries, and hospital admissions.
- Obtain necessary pre-certification as required.
- Communicate surgery or test scheduling details and potential prep work to patients.
- Inquire about test specifics from necessary parties and gather patient information.
- Utilize basic understanding of medical terminology for tests and surgical procedures, including coding.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 0-3 years of medical business office experience (Level 1).
- 3-5 years of medical business office experience (Level 2).
- Minimum five years of medical business office experience (Level Sr).
- Experience with Athena (revenue cycle management/medical billing software) preferred.
- Regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Vision and hearing corrected to normal ranges required.
- Requires frequent interaction with patients and staff.
