About the Role

The US Oncology Network is seeking a Patient Services Representative to support the Gynecology Oncology department at Texas Oncology in North Austin. This role offers a supportive, collaborative, and high-energy environment focused on providing compassionate patient care. The position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, with no weekends or major holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Answers incoming calls, assesses caller needs, and directs them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Schedules new, referred, and returning patients in the computer system.
  • Obtains and enters insurance authorization and referral correspondence into patient records.
  • Collects co-pays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket amounts at the time of visit.
  • Maintains the primary office scheduling template.
  • Arranges financial counseling for patients as needed.
  • Demonstrates understanding of patient confidentiality.
  • Follows policies and procedures to contribute to front office efficiency.
  • Covers for other front office functions as requested.
  • Prepares correspondence, memos, and forms as requested.
  • Schedules outpatient appointments, testing, surgeries, and hospital admissions.
  • Obtains necessary pre-certification as required.
  • Communicates with patients about scheduled surgeries or tests and necessary prep work.
  • Follows up on pre-operative tests to ensure clearance for surgical procedures.
  • Schedules post-operative follow-up appointments.
  • Maintains a basic understanding of medical terminology for tests and surgical procedures, including coding.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0-3 years of medical business office experience for Level 1.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of medical business office experience for Level 2.
  • Minimum five years of medical business office experience for Level Sr.
  • Regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Requires vision and hearing corrected to normal ranges.

Skills

  • EMR/EHR (electronic medical/health record) experience preferred.
  • Medical scheduling and appointment coordination experience preferred.
