About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our Thermofluids R&D Team, focusing on the structural analysis of critical machinery. This role involves designing and validating pressure-containing structures, analyzing rotating hardware, and ensuring the safety and integrity of our high-power cooling systems for AI infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Own the structural analysis of the machine, including impeller and rotor stress, casing, and pressure containment.
- Design pressure-containing structures from initial calculation through to fabrication.
- Collaborate on rotordynamic and modal analysis, addressing critical speeds, whirl, and magnetic bearing interfaces.
- Design containment cases to ensure safety during energetic failures.
- Design test cell structures and fixturing to support articles, drives, and loops under load.
Requirements
- Experience taking a pressure-containing design from calculation through fabrication, ensuring its integrity.
- Proficiency in running FEA on rotating hardware and correlating results with test data.
- Experience owning a containment or burst case design and justifying its safety.
- Experience jointly addressing modal and critical-speed problems with aerodynamic design.
- Experience signing off on a structure that was built and tested under load.
- Bonus: Experience with flight and propulsion structures, rotordynamics, bearing dynamics, high-cycle fatigue and fracture on rotating hardware, and pressure vessel/containment design.
- Bonus: Professional Engineer license.
