About the Role
The medical coordinator provides clinical and technical support in the provision of general medical and psychiatric care to patients. This position reports directly to the Co-Medical Director.
Responsibilities
- Schedule outside medical orders and referrals
- Collect blood and urine samples for patient’s medical care
- Coordinate medication supply and refills with case management and residential teams
- Conduct wellness intakes and checks for patients, including obtaining height and weight
- Collaborate with the Medical Logistics coordinator and practitioners on protocols and patient care
- Assist with urine drug screening and medical lab orders
- Collect medical and medication history for new patients
- Provide support with charting, emailing, and data collection
- Obtain release of information from appropriate providers, individuals, and facilities to obtain medical records
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with tact, discretion, and good judgment
- Prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality attention to detail
- Communicate professionally in person, by email, or by phone
- Receive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) training
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant with AD in Applied Science
- AAMA certification required
- Acceptable applicants may have a current Medical Assistant Certificate
- At least one year of medical office experience
- Knowledge and ability to practice aseptic technique when assisting with procedures
- Ability to triage medical/psychiatric problems within scope of job responsibilities
- Ability to take direction from physicians, managers, and providers
- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of management, staff, patients, and vendors
- Interpersonal skills to work with patients and staff of diverse backgrounds
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Thorough understanding of HIPAA regulations, requirements, and guidelines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting with conflicting demands
- Professional and enthusiastic attitude with a belief in patient-centered care
- Ability to work with emotionally vulnerable patients and digital technology
- Skill in establishing and maintaining complex filing systems
- Skill in organizing workflow to meet deadlines and set priorities
- Skill in exchanging ideas and opinions to increase efficiency of office procedures
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Professional, Microsoft Word, and various software programs
- Ability to independently perform and complete assignments with minimal direction and supervision
- Must be able to legally work in the United States and provide documentation
- Must be able to sit and stand at length (up to 8 hours)
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to kneel, bend, and squat
