About the Role
As a part of the Goldbelt Glacier Team, you will be supporting the Naval Logistics Command with medical services for active-duty military personnel, their dependents, eligible DoD civilian employees, and other eligible beneficiaries designated by the Government. As a HealthCare Worker (HCW), you will be assigned to either a Military Treatment Facility (MTF) or other Federal medical treatment facilities in Japan.
Responsibilities
- Provide psychological procedures and techniques, including interviewing, behavioral assessment, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and psychological testing/psycho diagnostic testing, in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological and neuropsychological disorders with children.
- Participate in clinical quality improvement, program evaluation, and other performance improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and current clinical documentation within MHS Genesis of all patients seen, producing reports of evaluation and/or treatment as required.
- Consult with healthcare providers, military commanders, legal representatives, Family Advocacy, educational personnel, community agencies, and other appropriate stakeholders for complex cases.
- Attend and participate in meetings during normal duty hours and professional staff conferences.
- Participate in military specific training(s) as deemed necessary.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the Early Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS) Team, military child psychiatrists, Special Needs Coordinator, MTF pediatric clinic and other appropriate military or civilian agencies for inbound and outbound referrals and continuity of care.
- Perform as a professional, with judgment and decision making in accordance with the American Psychological Association’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct.
- Communicate and collaborate with the Primary Care Manager (PCM) and appropriate members of the interdisciplinary health care team to ensure patient needs are met.
- Network with appropriate military and civilian agencies, Family Advocacy, EFMP-M, TRICARE resources, educational systems, and other community resources.
- See the standard number of patients per day as is set by the individual MTFs average patient turnover.
- Perform up to eight (8) patient care hours per day averaging approximately 8 patients per day or 40 patients per week.
- Workdays can consist of eight (8) to ten (10) hour days based on mission requirements.
Requirements
- Must have knowledge and skills of basic computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office) necessary to effectively perform assigned clinical duties.
- Effectively manage workload, maintain organized clinical documentation, and complete all patient care documentation entered in the electronic health record within 72 business hours of the patient encounter.
- Provide appropriate customer service skills with all patients and foster development of those skills throughout the entire medical team.
- Have a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited psychology program.
- Have a current license to practice psychology in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Skilled in individual, family and group psychotherapy, and couples therapy, alcohol and drug treatment evaluations.
- Work experience for at least two years with children in a therapeutic capacity is required.
- Experience and competency working with children (toddlers to adolescents) to include child specific evidence-based treatments and child specific psychological testing is required.
- Experience and skills using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- A thorough understanding of the military lifestyle and experience working with military family members.
- Working knowledge of relevant military, state, federal, and local laws and resources.
- Highly developed written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
