About the Role
The Division Director, Cross-County Health & Education is a new leadership role responsible for the quality, consistency, and performance of health clinics, health education, and college-access programming across San Francisco and Marin. This role reports to the Senior Director of Programs and represents the health and education portfolio within the broader program leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Provide unified leadership across HYP's health clinics and education portfolio, ensuring consistent quality and mission alignment.
- Develop internal and external relationships as the point person for program oversight.
- Design, document, and maintain program policies, procedures, and site manuals.
- Manage all contracts and funder agreements, ensuring progress toward goals and preparing required reporting.
- Prepare for annual program monitoring and licensing activities.
- Identify opportunities for program development based on community health and education trends.
- Oversee county-wide health education programming, ensuring curriculum stays current and evidence-based.
- Ensure health education activities are documented and evaluated for program improvement.
- Support an effective outreach strategy to youth, parents, schools, and community agencies.
- Help develop and maintain community, education, and system partnerships.
- Provide oversight of the ACE Academy, supporting program development, curriculum, recruitment, and partnerships.
- Ensure the ACE Academy benefits from HYP's broader health and clinical service network.
- Develop and integrate school-based program opportunities.
- Directly supervise, train, hire, and support program teams.
- Assist managers with hiring and training of direct-service staff.
- Lead the hiring and training of program staff.
- Set clear expectations, goals, and metrics for program teams.
- Maintain and develop HYP's health clinic partnerships.
- Participate in the grant and contract life cycle, including proposal writing, execution, implementation, quality assurance, reporting, monitoring, compliance, and funder meetings.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with referral agencies, school districts, community partners, and funders.
- Provide oversight of program finances, working with finance and program leadership on budgets and expense monitoring.
- Ensure health clinics, education, and ACE Academy sites meet applicable regulations, certifications, and licensing requirements.
- Assist with maintenance of program facilities and equipment.
- Serve as a communication link between the health clinics & education portfolio and the rest of the agency.
- Participate in the Senior Director of Programs' leadership team and relevant agency meetings.
- Contribute to agency-wide policy development.
- Represent the health clinics & education portfolio in community, funder, and public settings.
Requirements
- Able to lead experienced, supervisory-level managers and indirectly, less-experienced direct-service staff across two counties and sites.
- Skilled at managing competing demands, unexpected circumstances, and shifting priorities.
- Skilled at staff management, development, and performance while prioritizing organizational goals.
- Comfortable facilitating a range of meeting types.
- Experience in developing and revising scope of work, budgets, policies, and processes for effective program delivery.
- Familiarity with sexual and reproductive health education, HIV/Hep C/STI care and prevention, integrated behavioral health, and youth empowerment approaches.
- Passionate about college access and first-generation student success.
- Keeps current on best practices and ethical approaches in youth health and education.
- Strong written, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized and able to work independently across sites.
- Passion, humility, humor, integrity, vision, flexibility, and a mission-driven, self-directed approach.
- Bachelor's degree in health, health education, social work, public health, or a related field or equivalent training and experience.
- At least 5 years of experience with staff development, staff supervision, program management, and program development.
- At least 3 years of experience working with vulnerable adolescents and diverse communities.
- Experience overseeing more than one program area or site simultaneously.
- Experience managing multiple funding sources per program.
- Successful experience in grant-writing and administration.
- Experience, awareness, and knowledge of the diverse cultures of San Francisco and Marin youth and families.
- Must pass a DOJ/FBI background check.
- Recent TB clearance.
- Valid CA driver's license and clean DMV record.
- Current, or willingness to complete, First Aid/CPR training.
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19, consistent with current HYP policy.

About the Company
- Huckleberry Youth Programs' (HYP) health and education work spans two counties: the Huckleberry Youth Health Center (HYHC) in San Francisco (SF), the Marin Health Clinic, and the Huckleberry Access to College Equity Academy (ACE), a multi-year college-access program supporting first-generation students from high school through their first two to three years of post-secondary education.
- These programs have been serving youth for many years in Marin and San Francisco: the SF Youth Health Center for over 30 years, Marin Health Clinic for 30 years, and the ACE Program for 16 years.
