About the Role
We are hiring engineers to set the technical bar for how the AI Lab builds agentic systems, deciding on reusable patterns, defining production-readiness for evaluation frameworks, and determining when new architectures are needed. This role operates at the intersection of hands-on engineering and technical leadership, requiring both coding and defending technical decisions to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Architect and ship agentic systems, including multi-agent orchestration, RAG pipelines, and evaluation infrastructure.
- Set technical standards and reusable patterns for client engagements.
- Own build-vs-buy and architecture trade-off decisions.
- Build and evolve observability and evaluation infrastructure for AI quality.
- Mentor and technically develop other engineers.
- Travel to client sites as needed.
- Represent the AI Lab's technical point of view in cross-practice and client-executive conversations (at Senior Staff/Executive Director level).
- Identify areas where the Lab should build new capability ahead of demand (at Senior Staff/Executive Director level).
Requirements
- Demonstrated technical ownership of a production agentic AI system with real users or clients.
- Deep fluency in agentic architecture (multi-agent orchestration, RAG, tool use, structured output, evaluation/observability) with opinions on trade-offs.
- Strong Python and TypeScript/React fundamentals.
- Track record of translating ambiguous client asks into shipped systems on compressed timelines.
- Genuine daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent).
- Comfort setting technical direction for engineers beyond your immediate team.
- Ability to defend technical direction to skeptical stakeholders.
- Experience in a consulting, professional-services, or boutique AI-consultancy context is ideal.
