About the Role
The Behavior ML team is building world models that allow our machines to reason about the near future instead of just reacting to the present. As an intern, you will train models on real fleet data, conduct architecture explorations, and collaborate closely with the Behavior and Controls teams to deploy your work onto a real excavator.
Responsibilities
- Train and evaluate world models on real fleet data collected from autonomous machines in the field.
- Run architecture explorations and ablations, and make a defensible case for what's actually working.
- Build evaluation harnesses and metrics that indicate genuine model improvement.
- Partner with the behavior and controls teams to connect model outputs to planning and control.
- Present findings and provide a solid foundation for the team to build upon.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, machine learning, robotics, or a related field, or possessing equivalent research or industry experience.
- Strong Python skills and hands-on experience training models in PyTorch or an equivalent framework.
- Ability to translate research papers into working implementations.
- Comfort working with messy, real-world data, not just curated benchmarks.
- Sound experimental judgment to distinguish real results from noise.
