About the Role

You'll own the engineering that helps people discover Sauna, try it and become customers. This includes website experiments, tracking, integrations, and internal tools supporting growth initiatives. You will collaborate closely with marketers to select and build experiments, analyze results, and understand the product and its economics to propose improvements and explain trade-offs. Your responsibilities include taking projects from brief to production, testing the customer journey, and validating the data generated.

Responsibilities

  • Own acquisition tracking end to end, defining conversion events, implementing tracking, and connecting attribution to key business metrics.
  • Build and maintain integrations with Meta Conversions API, Google Ads, and GTM, ensuring proper consent handling and event deduplication.
  • Ship website and funnel experiments, building landing pages and conversion flows using TypeScript and React.
  • Collaborate with marketing and design to align messaging, offers, and user experience, testing across devices before release.
  • Make data dependable by investigating funnels and cohorts using SQL and PostHog, reconciling reports, and identifying data discrepancies.
  • Evaluate acquisition economics, including trial and inference costs.
  • Turn hypotheses into tested releases by defining success metrics, implementing experiments, analyzing results statistically, and recommending actions.
  • Build tools to automate recurring growth tasks by connecting analytics, billing, CRM, and marketing systems.
  • Utilize AI coding tools to build automations with clear failure handling and inspectability.
  • Own shipped work by writing tests, reviewing code, documenting decisions, and monitoring systems post-release.
  • Collaborate with product engineers on security and architecture, ensuring the growth stack remains understandable.

Requirements

  • Shipped production software across frontend, backend, and data layers.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, React, APIs, webhooks, and SQL.
  • Experience diagnosing problems across the full technology stack.
  • Experience implementing conversion tracking and ad-platform integrations.
  • Understanding of how conversion signals impact campaign optimization.
  • Ability to trace missing or duplicated events to their source.
  • Experience instrumenting event-based analytics systems like PostHog.
  • Experience using data to make growth or product decisions.
  • Understanding of funnels, attribution, and acquisition economics.
  • Ability to explain metric choices, potential misleading factors, and verification methods.
  • Active use of AI tools with responsibility for their output.
  • Ability to explain shipped code and configuration, verify assumptions, and adapt approaches.
  • Independent work ethic.
  • Clear communication with non-technical teammates.
  • Attention to detail regarding customer experience.
