About the Role
As a floating Patient Flow Manager, you will lead a team of Patient Flow Coordinators, Constant Observers, and Transporters within a hospital setting. You will be responsible for daily operations, staffing, employee engagement, and service excellence across four healthcare facilities, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centered observation services.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Patient Flow Coordinators, Constant Observers, and Transporters.
- Manage daily operations, staffing, employee engagement, and service excellence.
- Ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered observation services.
- Provide direct oversight of staffing operations, associate development, quality assurance, client relationships, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain a visible leadership presence at all assigned facilities.
- Drive operational performance and support employee retention efforts.
- Ensure consistency in service delivery across multiple locations.
- Understand and apply knowledge of basic patient transport concepts, infection control practices, and proper body mechanics.
- Determine, explain, and develop dispatcher logic and transporter activities; monitor and supervise dispatcher activity.
- Assist in coordination of Patient Transportation activities and services with other departments.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies including Federal, State, JCAHO, OSHA, and CDC.
- Orient, train, and develop dispatchers, trainers, transporters, couriers, drivers, and elevator operators.
- Assist unit director in achieving financial objectives and ensure department operates within budget.
- Control departmental expenses.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Management experience in a hospital, patient services, or hospitality environment.
- Analytical ability to interpret statistical data and identify trends impacting operational activity.
- Basic computer skills with Windows-based Operating System.
- Ability to troubleshoot system problems related to computer or software systems and initiate resolution.
- Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Consideration for candidates with a criminal history (including relevant driving history) in accordance with applicable laws.
- Certain positions may require Florida Level 2 background screening.
