About the Role
The Orthodontic Assistant will support doctors during treatment exams and all necessary functions. RDAs are responsible for performing all duties of a Registered Dental Assistant while providing quality customer service and maintaining a professional relationship and positive attitude with co-workers and patients alike.
Responsibilities
- Greet and prepare patients for dental care
- Assist the orthodontist at the chair during patient treatment
- Anticipate the orthodontist's needs and be prepared for the next steps
- Perform removal and placement of arch wires
- Conduct tooth preparation prior to bonding
- Perform accurate computer charting
- Sterilize chairs and instruments
- Provide oral hygiene instructions
- Perform placement and removal of brackets
- Take panoramic and cephalometric x-rays and oral photographs
- Undertake lab tasks as instructed
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of dental terminology and dental procedures
- Familiar with Sterilization
- Familiar with OSHA guidelines and procedures
- Experience in a professional environment with direct patient contact preferred
- Previous experience required
