About the Role
Seeking LPNs for our Children/Adolescent Psych Unit. This role requires psych experience and involves working night shifts every other weekend and on some holidays.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient care functions in an acute care setting with minimal orientation and supervision.
- Greet patients, direct them to exam rooms, and prepare them for examination.
- Provide routine assistance during exams, including setting up trays for injections, measuring and recording patient progress, and taking vital signs.
- Assist with general office duties, reception, appointment scheduling, filing, and chart preparation.
- Contact insurance companies to obtain authorizations for procedures and treatments.
- Contact primary care physicians to obtain referrals for new or existing patients.
- Assist physicians with patient care.
- Maintain exam rooms and clinical areas.
- Administer injections and assist with procedures.
- Implement nursing care activities under the direction of the primary or associate nurse as outlined in the nursing care plan.
- Observe and report patient responses to treatments.
- Participate in nursing unit management activities.
Requirements
- Current New York State license.
- Able to be certified/re-certified in CPR.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience required.
- Prior experience in an inpatient setting preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication skills with patients, family members, and other members of the health care team.
Skills
- Pediatric experience preferred
- Psychiatric experience required
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience strongly desired
