About the Role
The Teacher Assistant (Early Head Start) supports the Lead Teacher to keep an Infant/Toddler classroom safe, organized, and aligned with Head Start Performance Standards and NYS OCFS early learning standards. You help implement HighScope and enhancements, complete screenings and documentation, and enter child observations.
Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a safe and organized classroom.
- Ensure classroom alignment with Head Start Performance Standards and NYS OCFS early learning standards.
- Implement HighScope and enhancements (Pyramid Model, I Am Moving I Am Learning, Outdoor Instruction).
- Complete screenings and documentation in GoEngage.
- Enter child observations in COR.
- Connect with families at drop-off/pick-up.
- Join scheduled parent meetings or trainings.
Requirements
- CDA (Infant/Toddler) or obtain within 15 months.
- 2+ years of experience working with infants/toddlers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with parent engagement.
- Teamwork and confidentiality skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with online assessment tools.
- Experience with Teams/Zoom.
- Knowledge of the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- Valid NYS driver's license.
- Reliable transportation.
- Willingness to travel occasionally overnight.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to bend, squat, and kneel.
- Ability to remain regulated during stressful moments.
